Weekend in the Lou

We took the whole family to St. Louis last weekend.  The kids were as good as could be for almost six hours of travel time each way (though with a small toddler, "good" still means an endurance event, and you become one with the airplane funk to a degree that is truly revolting).

Henry got to partake in the awesome kiddie activities St. Louis has to offer.  He really enjoyed the Magic House and the City Museum, though he continues to be wildly unimpressed by zoos.  It was fun to take him to the places I went to as a child -- though I must admit, I was partial to the old, small, wacky Magic House over the big, shiny, orderly new one.

We also went out to the 'burbs to visit Karl's college roommate.  He and his wife have two boys, a ton of superhero costumes, and a play fort in the backyard, so Henry was pretty much in heaven.  The boys ran around while the grownups enjoyed some wine on the patio.  After dinner the kids all went to the playroom while we finished our meal, and by the time we went to check on them, it was like a scene from Lord of the Flies.  Henry wept huge tears when it was time to leave.

Henry and Ingrid also enjoyed the attractions at my parents' loft (i.e. a pinball machine and mardi gras beads, respectively).

A fun time had by all in St. Louis!
