Another baby

Did you notice how our kids are all about two years apart?  Apparently the kids hit about fifteen months and I start getting twitchy for another tiny cuddly thing.  And Fritz is, oh, hey!  Fifteen months.

So when Henry started begging for a puppy of his own, I totally caved.  Actually, I thought we would put it off until after Izzy dies but then the freaking rabbits started attacking my new shrubs and Karl pointed out that a dog would be the best organic pest deterrent.  So I started spending all my free time on PetFinder and filling out applications at the rescue leagues.

We got a call from a woman who was fostering this puppy.  She thought he'd be a great fit in a house full of kids.  She called on Monday, we went to visit on Tuesday, and came home with the puppy that night.  We had to stop at Petsmart on the way home for supplies!

Introducing Gunnar Tucker Steve Rogers Raymond Reitz, to be known as Gunnar!

He's absurdly cute and very sweet.  He loves to play tug of war and run around the yard but settles down very nicely for cuddles.  He likes to stick close to the herd of children and doesn't seem inclined to run off, which is a great trait in this house.

Right now he's sleeping in a crate in the mud room with Izzy, who treats him with the same benign indifference she shows the human puppies.  Once he's fully housebroken he will probably move to the boys' room.  It's a little nuts now -- a new human baby would have taken nine+ months to arrive but the dog baby showed up before Fritz hit 16 months -- but everyone is crazy about this little fuzzball.
