Second First Birthday Party

Henry is approaching his first birthday as a sort of progressive event, spreading out the festivities over the course of a week.  Last weekend we saw g/g Jane and Alan in Chicago and had our first first birthday party.  We got a cupcake from a very cute bakery, and Henry dutifully smeared the frosting all over the coffee table in the hotel suite, but showed no interest in actually eating the cake (Halloween had not yet introduced him to the glories of refined sugar).

Last night, in honor of his actual birthday, the three of us opened the presents and cards that had arrived in the mail.  gg/gg Bob and Joan get the honor of sending Henry his very first ever birthday card!  Henry actually seemed to have a really good time looking at all of the cards and opening the packages.

Woo, are these all for me?

In good toddler form, he was more excited about the wrapping paper than the actual presents, though today he's really digging on the car toy that Paul and Linda sent.  Personally, I squealed a little bit about the Oshkosh overalls from Gene and Joyce -- I loooooove toddlers in overalls.

This Sunday is the big party with our friends (and uncle Eric!).  Hopefully Henry will rally for one more cake-smushing.
