Developments

Lots of exciting things going on here even though we haven't left the house for four days --

Henry started potty training and he's taking to it like a champ!  He had two accidents right at the beginning on day 1, but has kept all business in its proper place since then.  We had no accidents but a lot of tantrums about non-potty-related things on days 2 and 3.  Today is day 4 and he has started telling us when he needs to go, getting himself to the bathroom, and negotiating for ridiculous numbers of M&Ms after every success.  He also wore only underwear for his nap today and stayed totally dry, then told us he was ready to go "peep" as soon as he woke up.  What a guy!

Not to be outdone, Ingrid started sitting up and eating cardboard paste rice cereal.  She progressed very quickly from tripod sitting and now lifts her hands to reach for toys and can stay upright for a few seconds.

She devoured rice cereal as though we hadn't fed her ever.  We did the first run while Henry was napping so that Karl could man the camera for me, then she got a second course at dinnertime.  It was fun for her to eat with the rest of us -- lately she has been rather fussy during dinner, so maybe she was just jealous that the rest of us were eating real food.

We had a few friends over last night for a little New Year's Eve party.  Six kids under age 3 . . . wild and craziest party we've ever had.  Seriously.  Henry got a new kitchen stand for Christmas and helped me cook Grandma Wolff's brisket and two kinds of pie for the party.  Fun to think about all the changes in store for both kids in 2013.

Happy New Year, everyone!
