Seventeen Months

Sweet sister is seventeen months old already.  I can't believe we're coming up on the year-and-a-half mark!  We had a ton of holiday travel, visitors, and festivities in the last month and she was a darling through all of it.

Well, almost all of it.  We won't talk about that return flight from Minnesota.

At some point during these festivities, this child who was so clingy and unsocial for the first year of her life, realized that other people might adore her and shower her with attention.  And she decided it was awesome.  All of a sudden, she's the smiley, huggy, following-cousins-around life of the party.  It was delightful to watch.

She had until this month been completely indifferent to babies.  Then all of a sudden she fell passionately in love with a baby doll.  She carries it all over the house and if she can't find it, she asks, "Eeeeeyah baby?" with a super-exaggerated distressed face and questioning hand motion.  This brings the essential-lovies count up to three (kitty, George, and baby).  I tried to get her to do the "Eeeeeyah baby?" on video but she wouldn't give it her usual gusto.  At least you can see how cute she is.  Please ignore my annoying voice and Henry's incessant yammering in the background.

Favorite new words this month: messy, 'pots (spots), fickits (fix it), kapits (ketchup), chockit (chocolate milk); plus a bunch of new words prompted by her Christmas gifts, including horsey (teal unicorn), purse, box, pink (pink chair), and goldshoes.  She's also using three-word phrases pretty regularly.  The ones I recall from today were "no dink it," "knock it down," "i need help," and "Daddy bye-bye wook."

She cut three new teeth, bringing her set up to four front top teeth, three front bottom teeth, and three molars.

She will occasionally dance.  But not when we go to the toddler concerts at the market.  Usually just in the kitchen by herself.  Party on, girl.
