Hands!

Henry discovered his hands today.  Sort of mind-blowing that 1) he didn't know before today that they were his, and 2) it was so clear to Karl and me that it happened.

The baby loves his playmat and spends some time there every day.  The rattling octopus is a special favorite and an excellent conversationalist.

Until yesterday, Henry would flap his arms and legs and occasionally made accidental contact with one of the toys.  Then, today, he hit the octopus.  Looked right at it, swung, and hit it again . . . and again, and again.

Karl was home today and we could both see it happen.  Hal had obviously figured out that the thing on the end of his arm belonged to him and he could control it.  So elemental, and yet so revolutionary.  Parenting is incredible.

  2. Did you have any ideas about when he would start to develop in ways such as this? (referring to developmental milestones)
