Two Months

Our sweet guy is two months old today. In such a short time he's gone from a sleepy, floppy newborn to a big, happy baby.

Hal doesn't have a pediatrician checkup until next week, so there are no official stats yet, but our bathroom-scale estimate is that he now weighs 17 pounds. He fits comfortably in six- or nine-month clothing. I saw my friend Emily today, and she said her nine-month old is wearing size 3 diapers. Funny, so is our two-month old.

We were traveling for the past two weeks, and it seems like we left with a newborn and came home with a real baby. Some of the highlights:
  • Karl and I now get big smiles all the time, which is pretty much the very best thing in the whole history of time.
  • The Tuft grows ever more magnificent. The back of his hair grows, while the front remains baby peach fuzz, so The Tuft now soars a solid three inches above the rest of his hair.
  • He kicks and squirms and flails with great purpose. We call it "marching in the Henry parade." The changing table brings out the leg marches and arm waves. It's amazing to think that he's discovering that his arms and legs are his own.
  • The baby fat has arrived. His rolls have rolls. It's delicious.
  • He's very strong and can mostly hold his head up now. He likes to push with his legs and could almost stand up. You know, if he had kneecaps.
