Nature

We've been unusually social lately.  Normally one social engagement per weekend is enough for us, but lately we've had back-to-back Friday-Saturday-Sunday plans practically every weekend, and some school-night activities too.

Maybe it's that everyone and their mom is moving to and/or visiting D.C.  Maybe it's that we're now old enough to have accumulated many sets of friends -- high school, college, law school, several jobs, plus family -- and known them long enough to have winnowed down each set to the people we actually like seeing.  And we've seen them all lately.  It's been fun, but this much social activity is pretty exhausting for a couple of introverts like us.  I need a quiet weekend free from the sound of human voices like most of my coworkers need a triple venti americano to start the day.

Anyway, last weekend my friend's baby turned one and we went to her birthday party on Saturday.  They had about 30 people over to their house, including a bunch of kids and babies.  It was festive and rowdy.  Henry smiled at everyone for about five minutes and then promptly fell asleep in Lily's pack-n-play.  He slept straight through the party, until five minutes before everyone left.

Yeah, that's our kid.
