Party On

The second child sometimes gets short shrift in the celebration department, but Ingrid managed to top Henry's three first-birthday parties.

Party #1: Northfield Retirement Center

All four great-grandparents now live in the same retirement center in Northfield, so we started the parties there with mimosas and cupcakes.  If you want to feel like the universe is smiling at you, take a chubby baby with pigtails and a pink seersucker dress to a senior living center.  Ingrid left scores of happy old ladies in her wake as we walked through the hallways.  She then devoured a cupcake and had to be hosed off.  Good thing there was a bathroom with a walk-in tub across from the party room.

Party #2: The Edina Friends

Since we were in Minnesota anyway, and Karl has a lot of friends with kids in Edina, we thought we should inflict a toddler party on someone other than our D.C. friends.  Had a gaggle of kids plus some close grownup friends and family over for snacks and more cupcakes.

Party #3: The Fam

Just the five of us (Izzy does cleanup, so she counts) at home on the thirteenth.  Featuring ice cream cake (hooray for a summer birthday!) and awesomely ridiculous/ridiculously awesome hat from aunt Linda.

Party #4: B-day-B-Q

Grandma and Grandpa Wolff were in town, so we invited a couple of our close friends, filled the baby pool, and fired up the grill.

Beautiful party dress made by Grandma Jane!

Four parties is the new three.  Happy birthday, little love.
