Big Kid Room

Ingrid made the leap to the big kid room last month.  Baby #3 is going to need the nursery before long, plus Henry had been camping in Ingrid's room anyway.

And Karl had been feeling the itch to throw things away and move furniture.  FYI, men totally have the nesting instinct.  At least it didn't involve a tile cutter this time.

So we took advantage of a 4-day weekend last month and rearranged Henry's room.  We un-bunked the beds, donated a ton of stuff that we had been storing on the unused top bunk, and cleaned out the closet so that Henry's clothes would fit.  One trip to the Container Store and a few Amazon orders later -- voila! -- big kid room.

When Henry made the switch, we set up the big kid bed and he played on it and read stories in there for a few weeks before actually sleeping in it.  Ingrid took one look at the bed with its cheery floral sheets, squealed "My big girl bed!" and started sleeping in it that very night.  They're both very excited to have beds they can bounce on.  Ingrid likes to look over at Henry's bed and say, "We sleep right next to each other!"

Post-script: of course, as soon as we did all this work, our contractor (whom we've been harassing for six months) got back to us with a bid to do some construction on this room.  The weird half-wall to the left of Ingrid's bed may soon be gone, which means the kids will move back into the nursery for four weeks of construction, but it will be awesome in the long run.  Plus it will give me an excuse to decorate the room from scratch :)
