Halloween

I have plenty of catching up to do, including a big update for each kid, but here's a Halloween photo dump to tide you over.

The kids had a blast this year.  Henry wanted them to be Luke and Leia from Star Wars.  Ingrid had no idea what that meant but was happy to go along with anything that had "Princess" in the title.

Behold, Darth Vader's most adorable progeny!

Henry's costume was a carefully assembled mishmash of items from Amazon and eBay.  We made the boots by recovering some old Uggs with strips of fabric.  It took me HOURS of eBay stalking to find the correct green light saber (my brother is laughing his shorts off right now).  I made Ingrid's costume with $15 worth of fabric and notions from JoAnn and it turned out so cute I can hardly stand it.

I also spent a lot of time watching sock bun tutorials on YouTube.

We got to test-drive both costumes for the kids' school Halloween parties.  It was great to have multiple events before the big day because the kids got more into it each time.

Eric and Julia and Alden were here for the official day.  Henry was disappointed that Alden did not dress as Yoda, but he was the cutest Charlie Brown ever.

We carved some pumpkins, briefly hit the neighborhood party at the market, then trick-or-treated along one of the most festive blocks with some friends.  Henry totally remembered the routine and was a candy-collecting champ.  Ingrid was slow to warm up.  Then she realized that at each house someone would go, "AWWWWWW, Princess Leia!" and give her candy.  She's very amenable to being told how cute she is.

Everyone came back to our house to hand out candy.  Henry also loved this part of the evening and was really making it rain, handing out huge fistfuls of candy.

I loved these costumes and the kids had a great time.  It will be hard to top this Halloween!
