22 Months

Sorry this update is later and lighter on the photos than usual.  My computer spent a sad, sad week at the Apple store.

Lady Ingrid hasn't changed greatly in the last month, so here are a bunch of random things she's doing right now that will remind me what this age was like.

  • She's learning the fine art of stalling at bedtime.  Changing the book request over and over. Saying she has to go to the bathroom when I know she doesn't.  Darting down the hall a dozen times, saying, "I give Daddy kiss one more."  Pleading, "More cuddles, Mommy.  I love cuddles."
  • The kids are starting to interact like real friends, which is to say they alternately play really well together and drive each other insane.  Henry now expects Ingrid to behave like a real person and gets frustrated when she won't play along.  And she now has opinions about what they play and how much sharing she wants to do.
  • The stroller is a torture device.
  • She knows lots of the words to her favorite books and songs.  She can sing the entire ABC song and does an awesome rendition of "Down By the Bay."
  • She eats practically nothing.  I think she knows she can hold out for a few days until I serve something of the pasta variety.
  • Most of the time, I'm very patient about letting the kids do things for themselves.  But Ingrid wants to climb into her carseat and click the buckles herself, which she is not really capable of doing.  For some reason, standing around waiting for her to try this one drives me insane.
  • She wants all of her people accounted for but is still a Mama's girl.  If Karl is at home for the day but tries to leave the house without her, she weeps huge tears.  And if the boys get too far ahead of us on a walk, she cries, "Catch Daddy!  Boys getting away!"  But once we catch up to them, Karl is not allowed to carry her.
  • She loves peeling band-aids and cutting sheets of paper into itty-bitty-teeny-tiny pieces.
