A Day at the Beach

Well, the "beach."  It had sand and water that is tangentially connected to an ocean.  But Henry had been asking to go to the beach and we didn't have time to take a whole weekend to go out to the real beach.  It turns out that there are several of these mini-beaches in state parks on the Western shore of the Chesapeake.

The beach was about 100 yards long, but it was sandy and clean.  The water was only about 18 inches deep for a really long way out, so Henry could splash around without us hovering.  The kids loved it.

Henry immediately crashed a family reunion.  He was adopted into the cousin group and shamelessly lined up for watermelon with everyone else.  The kid is friends with everyone.

Ingrid mostly sat on the blanket with a beverage or played calmly in the sand.  Karl's child.

Not bad for 45 minutes away!  This will definitely be in our regular summer rotation.
