Conversations With Henry

One of my more entertaining challenges with Henry is getting him to describe things he wants.  It's not like he's lacking in verbal tools.  He's just a little unclear on what constitutes useful information.

Henry: Mom, you know when Uncle Eric said "Peter."
Me: No, what was he talking about?
Henry: It was in Seattle.
Me: Right, in Seattle, what was the story about?
Henry: Peter.
Me: What did Peter do?
Henry: It was just Peter.
Me: What Eric talking about when he said "Peter"?
Henry: He was talking about Peter.
Me: Um . . .

Karl figured it out.  It's this.  You're welcome.

Henry: Mom, can you sing that song about the goat hair?
Me: I'm sorry, what?
Henry: The song about the goat hair.
Me: I'm not sure which one you mean.  What else is in the song?
Henry: You know, with the bags . . . one for my brother, one for my sister.
Me: You mean "Baa Baa Black Sheep"?
Henry: Yeah [in a tone that implies Mom is a mental deficient].

  1. We still have this problem, to a certain extent. When my parents asked Charlie what Frozen was about, right after he'd seen it for the first time, he said, "There's a snowman guy, and one time his head goes on upside-down!"
